Garden Bears Monthly Newsletter
August 2026
Serving Sussex & Kent County, Delaware
Hello from the Garden Bears Team!
As we move into August, we’re reaching one of the most rewarding parts of the landscaping season. The flowers, shrubs, and gardens we’ve planted throughout the spring and early summer are now thriving, and many of the landscapes we’ve transformed are truly at their peak.
August is all about preserving that beauty.
Our crews are focused on keeping every property looking healthy, polished, and vibrant despite the summer heat. Regular maintenance now helps ensure your landscape continues looking its best through late summer and into the fall.
Thank you for continuing to trust Garden Bears Landscaping with your home. We truly appreciate every opportunity to serve our clients throughout Sussex County.
🌿 What We’re Seeing This Month
Throughout the area we’ve noticed:
• Summer annuals at their fullest and most colorful stage
• Hydrangeas, crape myrtles, roses, and ornamental grasses putting on beautiful displays
• Continued weed pressure following summer storms and humidity
• Deer, rabbits, and insects remaining active around landscape beds
• Heat stress becoming more noticeable on newer plantings during dry stretches
Routine maintenance is making a tremendous difference in keeping landscapes healthy through August.
✂️ August Focus: Protecting Your Investment
By August, your landscape has received months of care and attention. Our goal now is protecting that investment.
This month’s services include:
• Detailed weeding throughout landscape beds
• Shrub and hedge trimming
• Deadheading annuals and perennials for continued blooms
• Touch-up edging and mulch refreshes
• Deer and pest deterrent applications
• Tree and shrub health monitoring
• General property cleanup and detailing
If there’s an area of your property you’ve been thinking about updating, this is still an excellent time to install plants, redesign beds, or complete smaller landscape improvement projects before the fall season arrives.
💧 August Garden Tip
One thing many homeowners don’t realize is that mulch naturally settles throughout the summer.
If mulch has thinned around the base of your plants, adding a light touch-up can help retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, reduce weed growth, and keep your landscape looking freshly maintained.
A little fresh mulch this time of year goes a long way.
